Holy crap! It’s already the end of November, signaling the end of the year. It’s truly hard to believe that 2019 is almost upon us. I’m planning on savoring this holiday season, and have already been enjoying the holiday spirit {but not the cold! 😂}.
Besides Thanksgiving, this wasn’t a very exciting month, but all-in-all, a good November!
Piece of Cake: Fitness Focus
For those of you who have been following me on social media, you know that I took a bit of a break from the really intense workouts I had been doing. As we try to get pregnant, my doctor mentioned that I should try to not exert my body so much.
To be totally honest, this was really hard for me to do. I LOVE my intense workouts. I feel so good after them, and feel like I’m ready to take on the day. I love seeing results from those workouts in such a short period of time. But a baby is so important to us, so I backed off.
I did yoga for three weeks, and then started doing those same intense workouts I had been doing, but in a modified version. That’s what I love so much about these Beachbody workouts. I don’t have to give anything up because I can adjust as needed.
The gym I used to go to was all about high intensity workouts. When my doctor told me to back off, I thought, man, before I would have had to miss workouts for an extended period of time. Money down the drain. But now I get to decide just what I need and can make adjustments without missing a day of workouts.
If you’ve been looking for a way to get into fitness and be able to try out all different kinds of workouts, then let me know! I’m here as your virtual personal trainer to help you find what works best for you and how to achieve you weight loss and health goals!
Piece of Cake: Thanksgiving
We had a fairly low key Thanksgiving this year. We stayed at my in-laws for a night, which is always great to spend some time with them! My mother-in-law enjoys exercise just as much as I do, so we went out for a walk with Winston. He came back a dirty mess and had to be put in the tub when we came back.
Then we headed to my parents for another Thanksgiving. My brother and sister-in-law had gotten a new puppy about a month earlier.
Thank goodness Winston was tired from his long walk and mini bath, because it could have been a pretty rowdy Thanksgiving otherwise!
One thing I love so much about following a mindful eating plan is that I no longer get stressed during holidays. I eat what I want without getting anxious about those foods fitting into my diet. I can eat with ease and enjoy my time with both families.
The rest of the weekend we spent getting my parent’s Christmas tree {a 34 year tradition for them of cutting down a real Christmas tree!}. Then headed back home to set up our own Christmas decorations.
Piece of Cake: One Last Slice
What I’m loving: a few things on my list {Christmas list?} of what I’m loving this month:
- This parka that looks extra cozy! I love that it cinches at the waist. But I can’t decide on a color…what’s your favorite color?
- I already have three robes at home, but there’s something so cozy about this one that I feel like I could add another to my collection?
- My absolute favorite slippers! They are such a steal…fully fur lined and have a hard bottom, making them perfect for taking Winston out on cold winter nights.
- Our book club book this month is I Know You Know by Gilly Macmillan, and it’s really good so far! I’ve been listening to in on audiobook on my way to and from work. It’s a great suspense book if you love those too!
What you’re loving this month:Â
This cranberry cream cheese loaf from last year is making a comeback. It’s perfectly sweet with a cream cheese filling that’s topped with sweet/tart cranberries. It’s perfect for Christmas morning breakfast! The apple pie snack mix is also a perfect one for your football Sundays, or for a cookie bake you might have coming up. It’s a sweet and salty mix that’s bursting with apple pie flavor, and a great grab and go snack.
One of my favorite desserts is one of yours too….healthy apple crisp. If you haven’t tried this, it’s a must! The crunchy crumble is a healthy version of the sugar packed one. It tops warm spiced apples, and is just as perfect for breakfast as it is for dessert.
Looking forward to seeing what December holds for all of you. What did you do for Thanksgiving? I’d love to know in the comments below!
