Piece of Mind 019

Well, another month has flown by, and we’re already into October.

Yesterday marked 20 weeks for us and baby B. It just seems bonkers to me to think that we’re already halfway through this journey, when it took so long to get here.

For those of you who are new around here, Burken {hubby} and I spent about two years trying to get pregnant. We had quite the journey, which ended with us doing IVF.

I am so incredibly grateful that we were able to get pregnant with the first round of IVF. Especially that baby has been so healthy throughout pregnancy.

Which leads me into our first section of piece of cake for the month.

Piece of Cake: Health and Baby

I have to say, first trimester was pretty tough when it came to eating healthy.

I basically wanted all the carbs and sugar. With so much extra blood pumping through my body, keeping my blood sugar levels, well, level, meant that I was craving a lot more sugar. Mainly fruit, which was a bonus.

But my one aversion showed up about 8 weeks into pregnancy. It was chicken. Which really sucked because chicken is the easiest protein to make.

Thankfully it didn’t last too long, just until the beginning of the second trimester.

I’m also so thankful that I had a quite simple first trimester. Little to no nausea. Tired, but not overly so, and still able to workout. Speaking of which, there’s a brand new workout program that I’m currently obsessed with! It’s 100 workouts for 100 days with plenty of modifications for the longer I get into pregnancy.

Second trimester has been amazing! Lots more energy, great workouts, better eating habits, and healthy baby to show for it.

We’ll be having our 20 week ultrasound tomorrow, where we plan to find out the gender. We’ll be doing a very small gender reveal party with our parents and my brother and sister-in-law next week.

I’ll be taking pictures of all our reveal escapades and posting them here on the blog. Make sure to also watch my Insta and/or FB for all the updates!

Piece of Cake: Your life free from dieting

Here’s the thing…your diet is totally controlling your life.

I say this with love, because I’ve been there. I was obsessed with food, and not in a good way. I couldn’t really see it while it was happening, but there was one clarifying day that I thought, I cannot spend the rest of my life counting points and measuring food.

When I turned to intuitive eating I couldn’t believe the changes that started happening in my life. I got into the best shape of my life when I wasn’t obsessed with the food.

It actually brought me to becoming a certified health and wellness coach and creating a program that I 100% believe will help you reach your wellness goals, all without needing the next diet, or following some crazy restrictive plan.

I’m beyond excited to tell you that Piece of Mind is ready for you! Well, ready for pre-sale that is. And when you get in now, before it officially releases in November, you’ll get the entire 12-week course with one on one coaching {the game changer in this whole process}, and a bonus coaching session with me to use during or after the program.

Check it all out here. I can’t wait to start working with you!

What I’m Loving

Okay, so I haven’t started reading it yet, but I will be doing so soon: Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Forleo.

If you’ve never listened to her podcast before, or watched her YouTube channel, they’re a must! She tells it like it is, but always gives such amazing and tangible advice. Go get the book now!

The second thing I’m obsessed with this month is, like I said, this brand new workout program. I’ve been doing Beachbody for over a year now, and to say I’m obsessed is an understatement.

They launch new programs constantly, and the newest is quite possibly one of my faves! It’s 20-30 minute workouts that are cardio, weights, abs, you name it.

You commit to 100 days of workouts, which I know seems like a lot, but man. This year has already flown by so fast, 100 days is going to go by in the blink of an eye.

This is a must-try workout!

Last favorite for the month? These quilted flats from Target. I’ve been obsessed over them for awhile, and finally pulled the trigger to pick them up. I’m soo glad I did!

I typically wear a size 9 in flats, but was able to get the 8 1/2 to work well. They’re so perfect for fall!

What You’ve Been Loving

It seems that the peach upside down cake and the 6 best HIIT workouts continue to be the top runners. But here are the other three that you’ve totally loved this month:

Coffee Cake Recipe: I’m a huge fan of coffee cake, especially the one my grandma makes. But I wanted to healthify it a bit, and let me tell you, this cake is the bomb.com!

This healthy coffee cake recipe is so soft and tender, it practically melts in your mouth. Made from scratch, and dairy free, this coffee cake recipe is one you're going to want to take to every brunch or holiday gathering. Also perfect for Easter morning breakfast. #easter #breakfastrecipe #brunchrecipe #coffeecakebundt #bundtcake #healthycake #healthycoffeecake #easycoffeecakerecipe

Healthy Peanut Butter Granola Cups: If you’re looking for the perfect, healthy, addicting, breakfast on the go, this is the recipe for you!

Apple Pie Snack Mix: another amazing recipe that’s absolutely perfect for all your fall get togethers. The spices are perfect for cooler weather, and is quite addicting to boot.

And there you have it! The month of September in review. I can’t wait to share the details of our gender reveal with you in just a few short weeks. So if you want to stay up-to-date, but aren’t currently on the e-mail list, make sure to sign up below!
