Rosé strawberry sangria is a simple recipe with loads of fresh fruit and chilled rosé. It’s the perfect refreshing summer drink to keep on hand for backyard BBQ’s, or casual nights on the patio.
This past weekend was Cinco de Mayo, which back in the day used to be classified as “Cinco de Drinko”. Okay, who am I kidding? We totally went out for some beverages and enjoyed the amazing weather.
Six years ago we had essentially the same weather, and it was six years ago that Burken and I met. Little did I know I was going to fall in love with this man and end up marrying him. Our story starts out with beverages in a friend’s backyard on Cinco de Mayo. To dinner at a favorite Mexican restaurant back home.
There he tied a red balloon to his wrist. Don’t ask why…this was six years ago, so anything is game. He kept that balloon on his wrist the entire night of bar hopping. The weather was fantastic, the cocktails were flowing, and I was falling for this man with the red balloon.
In honor of the red balloon, and six years later, I wanted to make a red inspired drink that would be perfect for Cinco de Mayo. Enter the rosé strawberry sangria.
Easy peasy rosé squeezy
Seriously, this sangria could not be easier. It’s full of fresh fruit, like mangoes, pineapple, strawberries, blackberries and lemon.
Then of course you have to have a good bottle of rosé. I picked up this $5 bottle from Target. For those of you who watched my Instagram story over the weekend, you saw that I cracked the bottle open at about 10:30 am. It was a little strange, but it was all in the name of recipe testing.
Just add all of the chopped fruit into a gorgeous pitcher, like this one from Target. Pour in the whole bottle of rosé, because rosé strawberry sangria is in need of some tasty wine.
Time for the bubbly
Rather than the typical soda that goes into sangria, adding a lot of extra unnecessary sugar, I opted for strawberry Bubly. It’s a sparkling water that’s perfect in this rosé strawberry sangria.
If you’re looking for a slightly sweeter sangria, then pick up a sweeter rosé. You can also add a few tablespoons of raw cane sugar. Let your rosé strawberry sangria sit in the fridge for a bit to let all of the flavors meld together.
Then serve outside on a patio with chips, salsa, and tacos. It was Cinco de Mayo after-all! These tacos are part of my new spring/summer meal plan. It’s coming out suuuppeer soon, so go pick up the current meal plan and you’ll get this newest one for free! It’s also a perfect memorial day meal to have with friends.
